Operations Director | Spire Healthcare | Sheffield | Excellent salary and benefits package available | Full Time 37.5 hours a week | Spire Claremont Hospital is looking to recruit an Operations Director to join its senior management team. You will provide inspirational professional leadership to all non-clinical service areas, working very closely with the Hospital Director and other members of the senior management team. The Operations Director is instrumental in delivering the Annual Operating Plan in line with the strategy for the Hospital in line with Spire Healthcare's Purpose and Values. Key responsibilities of this role include: - To manage the capacity of the Hospital to maximise the throughput of patients and utilisation of all facilities in line with the safe pathways of care and in keeping with the standards set by the CQC - To effectively lead all non-clinical services and colleagues within the hospital through their Heads of Departments to build highly engaged teams who provide efficient and consistent ways of working in line with the Spire Healthcare one best way - To manage the day-to-day operational performance of the Hospital to deliver the key performance indicators. - Monitor and review on a regular basis the utilisation of the Hospital's facilities including outpatient clinics, diagnostic imaging sessions and theatre sessions to maximise throughput of patients in line with safe standards of care - Review the utilisation of space and accommodation throughout the Hospital to maximise clinical capacity - Develop plans to match staffing levels to activity in all non-clinical areas in line with the establishment tools to make the best of the available capacity - Manage the implementation of relevant local capex schemes as appropriate Leadership to ensure efficient and consistent ways of working - To lead all non-clinical services and colleagues within the Hospital through their Heads of Departments to provide efficient and consistent ways of working - Ensure that all non-clinical areas of the Hospital are working efficiently and in keeping with the standardised pathways and staffing tools - Lead the non-clinical teams throughout the Hospital including: admin teams in theatre, wards and imaging catering engineering housekeeping inpatient and outpatient bookings reception supplies and procurement switchboard - Promote personal development within teams to ensure the growth of skilled and flexible colleagues capable of working in multiple settings throughout the Hospital - Work with the Director of Clinical Services to develop strong communication channels between clinical and non-clinical departments that promote the Spire behaviours - Establish and maintain a comprehensive approach to improving customer service, including setting standards, benchmarking with market leading organisations and agreeing action plans with Heads of Departments - Review performance based on feedback received from all stakeholders, including patients, and consultants and develop action plans for improvement - Share best practice with other hospitals creating and support networking opportunities wherever possible Operational performance management to deliver results - Manage the day-to-day operational performance of the Hospital to deliver the financial targets and key performance indicators in partnership with the hospital Finance and Commercial Manager, Hospital Director and Senior Management Team. - Work in partnership with the Finance and Commercial Manager to manage all non-clinical budgets to achieve targets, production of commentaries and variance analysis including initiating and tracking remedial action plans where appropriate. - Monitor performance and take appropriate action to meet financial targets and KPIs - Produce action plans, identifying financial targets and improved profitability through maximising revenue capture and reductions in cost - Ensure compliance with contractual obligations for NHS and other contracts - Work with Hospital Director and senior management team to identify commercial development opportunities, efficiency improvements and options to share resources and lead on converting such opportunities into operational delivery Risk Management - Manage and co-ordinate clinical and non-clinical risk activities ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory bodies. - Ensure appropriate reporting, investigation and management of incidents is undertaken in accordance with requirements of CQC/HIS/HIW and HSE. Develop and devise procedures as necessary. - Co-ordinate the dissemination, integration and implementation of corporate and local policies and procedures. Work with colleagues to develop appropriate policies where appropriate, and ensure they are reviewed within the required time frames. - Adopting a multi-disciplinary approach, in conjunction with colleagues, work to develop an organisational culture which encourages professionals to review practice, report untoward incidents and share lessons learnt without fear of recrimination or censure.
