A new Musical Director is required for a Kirkcaldy based choir.
We are a long-established group made up of current and retired NHS employees based in Kirkcaldy. Current membership is approximately 20 and rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 7.15-8.45, with some scope to change the preferred evening.
There is a requirement for the MD to provide suitable sheet music and recorded practice tracks for rehearsal purposes; however, there are no auditions for choir members, and it is not a prerequisite for members to be able to read music.
Terms of contract will be negotiated with the successful candidate. The fee is anticipated to be approximately £50 per hour with 1.5-2 hours of rehearsal time per week, and remuneration is paid on receipt of invoice.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Direct adult choirs and motivate and inspire members.
2. Intermediate/advanced piano/keyboard skills for rehearsals.
3. Access to accompaniment for concerts.
4. Lead rehearsals with a sense of humour and respect for individuals.
5. Work collaboratively with choir members and the committee to provide a weekly rehearsal schedule.
6. Design concert programmes in conjunction with the committee with broad appeal to both audience and choir.
Selection will be by interview and participation in a short audition rehearsal with the choir.
If you feel that this is a role for you, please get in touch by email at heather.bett@btinternet.com by 1st November 2024.
The deadline is Friday, 01 November 2024 at 22:00.
