We are currently looking for a Distribution Coordinator (Readymix) to join our friendly team based at Tarmac Birtley Office in Birtley, Chester-le-Street.As well as Birtley and Chester-le-Street this role is easily accessible from Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne, Consett, Durham, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Darlington, South Shields, Wallsend, Longbenton, Hexham, Alnwick, Morpeth and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility
Reporting directly to the Distribution Manager the Distribution Coordinator (Readymix) will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Readymix vehicles owned and operated by Tarmac third party haulage base.
Responsibilities for this role of Distribution Coordinator (Readymix) will include:
1. Engaging with customers to receive and process Readymix concrete orders
2. Scheduling delivery times in line with customer expectations
3. Working alongside the distribution team and the wider area transport team to provide a cost effective, sustainable, safe & customer focused transport operation for the business
4. Management of compliance and legal requirements both from a statutory, industry and Tarmac perspective ensuring all contract and/or third-party hauliers are operating to Tarmac standards, practices, and procedures
5. Strategically planning and building relationships with Third Party haulage suppliers through contract negotiation
6. Working with the Logistics and Production Managers to provide a medium to long term plan to meet demands
This role is a Monday - Friday role on a rotating shift pattern (7am – 4pm and 8am - 5pm) and Saturday mornings when required (approx once per month)
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of Distribution Coordinator (Readymix) will have worked in a similar industry providing support to a wider team. Whilst industry experience is preferred it is not essential. If you have proven customer service or distribution / route planning experience in an office basedenvironment, and you enjoy working as part of a team then this role may be of interest.
Suitable candidates for the role of Distribution Coordinator (Readymix) will have:
7. Proven experience working collaboratively within a team to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner and to a high standard
8. Good communication skills (verbal and written) and confidence to build rapport and positive relationships with customers and colleagues
9. Desire to work as part of a team and the confidence to challenge processes and behaviours
10. Flexible and adaptable approach to work
11. Ability to provide excellent service to internal and external stakeholders at all levels
12. Strong problem-solving skills combined with numeracy and analytical ability
13. Commercially minded approach
14. Determination to succeed and to drive and lead improvements
15. Ambition to learn new skills and achieve your own personal goals, as well as business goals
16. Working knowledge of Microsoft IT packages (SAP and CRM systems preferred)
