Job summary Ward A6 is looking to strengthen its existing Day Case Service Team by appointing an experienced Nurse into a new Band 6 post to work in our dedicated Day Case/Planned Investigations Unit. Our Day Case Services are delivered 0800 to 1800 Monday Friday. Offering support to Haematology, Oncology, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Respiratory, Cardiology and Endocrinology Teams. Focussing on a nurse led service. Someone who is able to demonstrate they are able to manage allocated patients delivering time critical treatments and supporting patients and relatives in understanding the specifics of treatments and essential follow up guidance. Administration of Chemotherapy and Haematology supportive treatments forms a large part of our activity and experience and expertise in delivering these treatments and support is essential. Candidates should be competent in venous cannulation, phlebotomy, central/PICC lines, blood transfusion, administration of chemotherapy and its after care and administration of IV additives. Working within a small dedicated team the ability to work flexibly and manage your own allocated work load is essential, whilst working with the current senior staff to ensure good management of the Day unit. You should have experience in supporting patients dealing with life impacting illness and be able to demonstrate an ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with your patients. 37.5 hours per week Interview date: Tue, 01 Apr 2025 Main duties of the job To act as a role model for junior team members in the delivery of a high standard of nursing care. The role will encompass specific responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care and expertise within the clinical area.
