Lecturer in Business Psychology - Birmingham
ROLE PURPOSE:
You will be responsible for performing a range of tutoring, lecturing, administration, professional duties, and other related activities to deliver a high-quality educational experience to our students. As a lecturer you are expected to engage students in the learning process to ensure student outcomes are maximised. You shall also be required to contribute to the development of a range of subjects across the curriculum and for supporting the quality assurance processes pertinent to the programme(s) on which you are teaching.
Please note this role is fully on-site to include both teaching and marking as we operate an on-site working model. We are looking for both full-time permanent and hourly paid Lecturers.
Main Responsibilities
ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design, plan and deliver lectures, tutorials and other teaching and learning activities as required by the Faculty.
• Design assessments and assess student work, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
• Provide academic support and guidance to students as necessary
• Develop, update, and improve course materials as appropriate and necessary.
• Keep up to date with best practice in teaching and learning, and ensure that your teaching reflects best practice and embeds technologies that enhance the learning experience.
• Contribute to the design, development, delivery, review and enhancement of programmes of study within the Faculty and across GBS as a whole.
• Attend meetings as required, and develop productive working relationships within the various teams you will be engaged with.
• Participate in internal and external events, such as programme reviews, open days, outreach activities, and partner and internship visits.
• Undertake a reflective programme of staff development which includes teaching observations, directed study, workshop participation and experiential learning.
• Support and engage in the creation, application and/or dissemination of new knowledge in your field of study and/or in higher education practice.
• To participate in the GBS performance management programme, meeting a range of clearly defined objectives for student outcomes, student satisfaction, retention and attendance.
• Act as a Module Leader or undertake other administrative/management duties, commensurate with the level of the appointment, and as determined by the Dean.
• Take on other responsibilities as required to support the work of GBS, which may include acting in a more senior capacity as part of a programme of professional development.
Requirements
Essential Skills, Experience and Attributes
• Hold a Master’s, (preferably in Business Psychology) and preferably a doctoral level qualification in your field, or be able to demonstrate success at an equivalent level professionally.
• Have a passion for education as a transformative activity.
• Have experience of, and a passion for, working in widening access environments.
• Have experience of teaching in higher education.
• Have experience of supervising student work and providing support and feedback.
• Have experience with distance learning and supporting learners both face-to-face and remotely. Demonstrate professional conduct in all interactions with staff and students.
• Have extensive knowledge of relevant subject matter.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and accurate reporting.
• Be able to maintain thorough and organised student records.
• Be able to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines.
• Be highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills.
• Be able to work with diverse groups of people.
• Be able to demonstrate industry experience in the field of Business Psychology.
