Specialist Physiotherapist - Acute Mental Health

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist to join the Acute Mental Health therapies team based in Hertfordshire for a fixed 12 month period (maternity cover).
This could be a fixed term contract or secondment opportunity.
The successful candidate will work as an influential and integral member of a diverse multi-disciplinary team and will join the supportive and dynamic Occupational Therapy Team, with professional supervision from physiotherapists in other services.
You will be a highly motivated, experienced clinician and will be able to demonstrate an interest and specialist knowledge in working with this client group. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and be enthusiastic about working as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team.
You will receive regular supervision and support from both Professional Lead Occupational Therapist and the Professional Lead Physiotherapist to manage the caseload and to work to develop Physiotherapy services within the Acute and Urgent Care division.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide comprehensive Physiotherapy assessment and intervention for specified service user group.
2. To carry a caseload as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
3. To provide clinical leadership.
4. To provide supervision to students within the work setting.
5. To lead in a specialist area and contribute to the development of specialist service related policies.

Job responsibilities
1. To provide highly specialised physiotherapy assessment and treatment for service users with complex mental health and physical health needs, and to provide expert advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals.
2. To provide this service within the adults inpatient units in HPFT:
* Oak, Swift, Robin and Owl Kingfisher Court, Radlett
* Aston Stevenage
* Albany Lodge St Albans
1. To hold responsibility for own case load, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular one to one sessions with the line manager/ Professional Lead, formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences and reflective practice.
2. To work alongside the established Senior Physiotherapist working in Older Adults Mental Health inpatient units.
3. To undertake a significant clinical caseload to a high professional standard, using specialist knowledge and skills from theoretical and practical experience.
4. To be responsible for supervision, education and assessment of therapy assistants and to oversee the clinical supervision of more junior staff/students.
5. To undertake/lead evidence-based audit and research projects to develop and enhance personal and teams clinical practice within their area; to make recommendations to clinical lead/ head of service for changes to practice by the team; to implement specific changes to practice; to write and/or contribute to service protocols.

Knowledge, Training and Experience
* Diploma / degree in Physiotherapy
* State registration with HCPC
* Evidence of having met the full KSF Gateway for Band 6
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Membership of special interest group

* Post registration experience in a relevant clinical setting
* Broad base of clinical experience
