Activate Learning has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Science Laboratory Technician to join our well-established team at Oxford College.
You will be responsible for providing technical support for the Science Laboratory facilities (Chemistry and Physics), ensuring the teachers and learners are fully equipped for their lessons, and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-stocked environment in line with Health and Safety requirements.
In addition, you will support the teacher in the delivery of all teaching programmes and be present during lessons to offer additional support to learners if required.
This is a part-time role, working 17 hours per week, term time only (FTE 0.39).
What do you need to be successful as a Science Lab Technician at Activate Learning?
Successful candidates will have a level 4 qualification in one of the following science subjects: Chemistry or Physics, and experience in laboratory work. You will have experience in writing risk assessments and COSHH assessments, along with good attention to detail, strong communication skills, and be IT literate. Ideally, you will also have experience working in an education environment, specifically in a school or college laboratory.
Additionally, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.
