Job Description
Hours: Full Time - Monday to Friday. Very occasional requirement for mid-week, overnight stays.
Location: Each working day will start from the Company’s base in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, until you are able to work independently. You will then travel to client locations across Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk each day, with a qualified Data Cabling Engineer, who will support you through your training.
Salary: Negotiable and dependent on experience.

Working alongside an experienced engineer, you will be supported to carry out the following tasks:
* Conducting site surveys to establish the customer’s individual needs and come up with a practical and cost-effective plan.
* Installing and testing copper and fibre-optic data cabling, using a wide range of specialist equipment and power tools.
* Working confidently and safely at height both indoors and outdoors, in confined spaces and other challenging environments.
* Surveying & setting up complex wireless networks.
* Configuring network hardware.
* Finding and repairing network faults.
* Installing audio-visual equipment including CCTV systems.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
* Practical work experience within a hands-on trade e.g. general building, electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, roofing etc.
* Experience of, and confidence, using a range of tools including screwdrivers, drills, pliers etc.
* Experience, or a willingness, to work confidently and safely at height, including on scaffolding, MEWPs and ladders, in confined spaces and other challenging environments.
* Experience of, or relevant transferrable experience/skills, installing electrical conduits and cables.
* Proven experience of completing professional or educational qualifications, which are assessed in a variety of ways, including assessment of practical skills and the completion of written tests to demonstrate your understanding of theoretical and technical information.
* Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of safe working practices, including the wearing of appropriate safety clothing etc.
* Attention to detail, taking a tidy, considered and methodical approach to your work.
* Excellent customer service/communication skills and having a professional approach to your work, as you will be working in both professional environments and private residences.
* A full UK driving licence, held for at least 12 months, with no more than 6 points and access to your own vehicle.
* The right to work in the UK.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
* Evidence of either personal or professional skills in relation to computer networking or related field e.g. an IT related qualification or relevant examples of personal projects completed.
* Knowledge and/or experience of computer networks, including TCP/IP, DHCP and DNS and an ability to conduct technical tests and interpret the results. NB: No specialist knowledge of data/fibre-optic cabling is specifically required, as this will be taught ‘on the job’, but the successful applicant will need to demonstrate they have the necessary skills to understand and carry out these tests independently in the future. This can include transferrable skills/knowledge gained through personal hobbies/interests.
