Training and development:
You will play a crucial role in the ongoing training and development of store staff, ensuring they are knowledgeable about sustainable practices and customer service excellence. This includes organising regular training sessions on eco-friendly products, mentoring team members for career growth, and conducting performance reviews to support professional development.
* Ongoing training - In a sustainability-focused store like Refillable, training on the environmental impact of products, eco-friendly alternatives, and proper refill station procedures would be vital. This would help staff become brand ambassadors who can effectively communicate the company’s sustainability message to customers.
* Mentorship and staff development - through conducting performance reviews, identifying areas for improvement, and fostering a positive, learning-based work environment.
* Empowering the teams - For example, empowering team members to take ownership of sustainability initiatives. Encouraging them to suggest ways to further reduce store waste or improve the customer refill experience.
Sustainability expertise:
* Eco-Literacy and Advocacy: Our Assistant Store Manager should be able to speak knowledgeably about sustainability topics. This might include knowledge of the lifecycle of products, plastic-negative solutions, and the environmental impact of consumer choices.
* Sustainability Integration: The Assistant Store Manager should ensure that sustainability principles are integrated into every aspect of the store's operation—from waste reduction to product sourcing and merchandising. Including responsibilities such as “working with suppliers to minimise packaging waste” or “ensuring refill stations are properly maintained to reduce spills and product waste” would underline the operational aspects of sustainability.
* Customer Engagement in Sustainability: The Refillable Assistant Store Manager would be required to lead initiatives such as in-store workshops or seminars on waste reduction or eco-friendly product usage, fostering a community around sustainability.
We expect our Assistant Store Manager to be a passionate advocate for sustainability, ensuring that all store practices—from product stocking to customer interactions—are aligned with our plastic-negative ethos.
