Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior In-House Commercial Lawyer to join our small but dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in negotiating commercial contracts with some exposure to other common in-house related activities: negotiating property related agreements (leases, property sales), mergers and acquisitions (M&A), managing employment related issues, risk management and the purchasing insurances. We are looking for someone with a pragmatic commercial approach, who is willing and able to manage their own work load, and work as part of a team.
What will you be doing?
* Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, service contracts, and partnership agreements.
* Provide legal advice on property-related matters, including leases, acquisitions, disposals, and property management.
* Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and advise on risk management strategies.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support business objectives and provide proactive legal guidance.
* Provide timely and pragmatic legal advice to various business units and subsidiaries (frequently in other jurisdictions).
* Manage external legal counsel appointed business consultants advising on mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
* Stay updated on legal developments and industry trends to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive.
* Conduct legal training for staff on relevant legal issues and company policies.
What are we looking for?
* Law degree from an accredited institution.
* Qualified solicitor/barrister with a valid practicing certificate.
* Demonstrable post-qualification experience in-house with a focus on contracts and commercial law.
* Proven track record of successfully managing complex legal transactions and negotiations.
* Familiarity with the engineering industry and related legal issues.
* Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* High level of integrity and professional ethics.
