We are looking for HGV/Diesel Mechanics in the UK who would like to relocate to New Zealand and will provide sponsorship and some financial assistance to support you through this transition. Guidance and advice on relocating from the UK, local amenities and schooling, and housing will also be provided to ensure your move is as straightforward as possible. The Role: We are seeking a skilled and experienced HGV/Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a diverse fleet of heavy goods vehicles and diesel-powered equipment, ensuring they are operating safely and efficiently. This role requires strong diagnostic abilities, a thorough understanding of diesel engines and related systems, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship. Key Responsibilities: Perform routine maintenance and servicing on HGVs, trucks, trailers, and other diesel-powered equipment according to manufacturer specifications and industry best practices. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using diagnostic tools and technical manuals. Carry out complex repairs and overhauls on diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, hydraulics, and other vehicle components. Inspect and assess vehicles to identify potential issues and recommend necessary repairs or preventative maintenance. Conduct safety inspections and ensure vehicles comply with relevant New Zealand regulations (e.g., Land Transport Rules). Accurately document all work performed, parts used, and time taken on job cards. Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment, adhering to health and safety regulations. Operate workshop equipment safely and efficiently, including diagnostic tools, lifting equipment, and hand tools. Keep up-to-date with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques through training and self-learning. Skills and Experience: Qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic with a relevant trade qualification (e.g., National Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering). Proven experience in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of HGVs and diesel-powered equipment. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals. Excellent knowledge of diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, braking systems, transmissions, and hydraulics. Ability to use a variety of diagnostic tools and equipment effectively. Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
