Database Administrator/Engineer (Outside IR35)

Key Accountabilities:
1. Carry out routine configuration, installation and reconfiguration of database and related products to optimize performance and implement change.
2. Build and troubleshoot infrastructure solutions using architect's drawings, diagrams and/or data flows.
3. Identify and take ownership of technical problems and incidents; manage, coordinate and prioritise tasks to resolve technical incidents as quickly as possible.
4. Identify and investigate repeat issues and faults, initiate and monitor actions to investigate patterns and trends, consulting specialists where required; determine the appropriate remedy and preventative measures; assist with their implementation.
5. Develop and document change requests to improve control / reduce risk to security performance and availability; analyse and assess the impact of change requests.
6. Create Technical and Functional Documentation and ensure that it is reviewed and maintained accurately.
Essential Experience:
1. Understanding of MS SQL Server best practices.
2. Database Maintenance (Install/Configure/Maintain SQL Servers); familiarity with Ola Hallengren maintenance solution is preferred.
3. Always On/High availability knowledge, replication.
4. Backup/Restores of SQL Server.
5. Understanding of database roles and permissions as well as data security; moving towards an RBAC model similar to AD for SQL.
6. SSRS reporting; work in conjunction with other teams to get customised reporting for the business.
7. Familiarity with other databases such as Postgres and MariaDB.
8. Azure Capability/AWS Working knowledge.
9. Substantial experience in relevant roles, including technologies in an enterprise environment, and of working within a secure environment, e.g., MOD; CAB Office, Home Office.
10. Experience in a high-pressured, fast-paced team.
11. Knowledge of ITIL working practices, Incident Management, Problem Management.
12. Change and release management.
