We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our team as a full-time Clinical Director. The role will be a joint role working across both our Gillingham and Trudoxhill practices, with the primary role being based at Bellevue in Trudoxhill.
You will manage the small animal side of the practice alongside the Practice Manager, with the support of the Area Director and Support Manager. You will be the small animal clinical lead in the practice, consulting with clients and performing surgeries, managing, and leading the practice, and ensuring high standards of care and service are provided to patients and clients to improve the sustainable profitability of the practice and the motivation of our people in accordance with our core values.
Other duties include:
*Supporting the team to achieve best practices and deliver the best outcomes for our patients.
*Responsibility for the financial performance of the small animal side of the practice and supporting the team to reach our intended goals.
*Following IVC policies and procedures and promoting this within the team.
Shift patterns that work for you
Typically, the full-time position is 40 hours over 4 days or 5 days with 1:4 Saturday mornings (9 am to 1 pm). No out-of-hours. The wellbeing of our people is important to us, so we are open to discussing a rota pattern that suits you, allowing you to enjoy a good work/life balance and NO ON CALL.

Our practices are both situated in Trudoxhill and Frome (Gillingham) they are situated on the Somerset/Dorset border and are 20-30 minutes apart. Frome, on the borders of Somerset, Wiltshire, and Dorset, was listed in 2021 as ‘The best place to live in the Southwest’ by The Sunday Times. Frome is a welcoming charming and vibrant town with many historic buildings, quaint streets independent shops, a thriving live music and arts scene and the popular Frome Independent Market on the first Sunday of the month. Gillingham is a small town with origins traced back to Saxon times and beyond. It is situated close to the A303 with many amenities in the town as well as a mainline station.
Both of our sites are very well-equipped with plenty of consulting rooms, a nurse consult room and a further room that can be used for physiotherapy, laser, or a comfort room. We have a fully equipped operating theatre, r x-ray, a brand-new, high-quality ultrasound, idexx blood machines, multiparameter unit, tonometry, laser, orthopaedic kit, and much more. Both practices have parking and Out of Hours cover provided by Vets Now.

Our experienced nurses perform routine nurse consultations including second vaccinations, allowing you the time to work up cases and reduce the pressure on the Veterinary Surgeon. An Ops Nurse is always available during surgery and support nurses are always on hand for additional help and to prepare the next patient ensuring a smooth transition from patient to patient. By having enough nurses who are fully utilised, they help to make sure your day runs smoothly, and you achieve that much-needed work/life balance in a less stressful environment. We offer 15-minute consultations and 30 minutes for more complex cases that require extra time and support.
