My client is a leading logistic provider and works with some of the UK’s leading retailers. They are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their Finance team on a permanent basis, full time.
Responsibilities
1. Reconcile invoices and identify discrepancies.
2. Issue invoices to customers and external partners, as needed.
3. Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings, and statements.
4. Process accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
5. Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting, and recording accounts receivables’ data.
6. Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
7. Verify discrepancies and resolve customers' invoicing issues.
8. Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending statement reminders and contacting customers.
9. Generate financial statements and reports detailing accounts receivable status and bad debt analysis.
10. Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure that all invoices and payments are accounted for and properly posted.
11. Verify and investigate discrepancies by reconciling supplier accounts and monthly supplier statements.
12. Prepare weekly payment runs including obtaining approvals from budget holders.
13. Update fixed asset registers and calculate monthly depreciation.
14. Support month-end processing by posting routine journals.
15. Assist with other accounting projects as required, including annual audits and statutory filings.
16. Deal with ad-hoc queries as required and support the wider finance team.
17. Prepare and reconcile the weekly cashflow.
What we’re looking for:
1. Advanced Excel skills, with strong use of pivot tables and lookups in Excel.
2. Experience within a finance team preferred.
3. Experience working on SAGE X3 will be an advantage.
4. Understanding of internal controls and procedures.
5. The ability to communicate effectively and work closely with finance and non-finance professionals alike - verbally and in writing.
