Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Operative to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will actively contribute to maintaining food safety and product integrity by monitoring and controlling key activities, ensuring the Quality department’s strong presence across the factory. Your responsibilities will include promoting full compliance with BRCGS standards, accurately recording quality systems as per schedules, and ensuring all finished goods meet the required specifications through thorough inspections and timely corrective actions.
Responsibilities
Start-up Checks
These checks shall be carried out at the beginning of each shift, product run or changeover. Including
* Label Printing / Check
* Weight control
* Metal detection (CCP)
* Inspection of machinery and production lines – Dicing Macerating and pasting lines shall be inspected for cleanliness and integrity before production commences.
QA Sampling and Inspection of Raw Material
To sample, inspect and release raw materials in accordance with raw material inspection procedure.
* To complete and record a 10kg from each new pallet to assess raw material for foreign body content, pit count, evidence of infestation and organoleptic quality.
* To carry out and record critical data analysis.
* To consult technical manager / MD when non-conforming product is found.
Training Leader
* Induct new staff including agency personnel.
* Record induction / training in personal records
* Record time taken to train staff.
Micro sampling and registration
* Complete sampling of raw materials against agreed Micro Schedule.
* Complete environmental and personnel hand swabs against agreed schedule.
* Collect water samples to verify water quality six monthly.
* Register samples on AMIS database and submit samples to laboratory.
Production Tasks
* Label Generation
* Packaging co-ordination (ordering and management of stock).
* Monitoring receipt of deliveries records
* Monitoring and recording of Staff hours (agency)
Hygiene / GMP Audits
* Supervision of cleaning operation during shift and at the end of shift. To assist technical manager in monitoring hygiene standards and GMP.
* To monitor internal and external factory standards.
Reporting and Documentation
Complete and file all QA sheets together with processing sheets for daily production. All non-conformance's should be documented and reported to the technical manager for follow up.
Pest control
* Co-ordinating with contractor on site, reviewing and trending EFK's and other Pest controls on site.
* Reporting of any signs of pest activity to the Technical Manager/pest Contractor
Staff Supervision
* Ensuring all production workers are allocated tasks suitable to their ability and training.
* Ensuring that all production workers are sufficiently trained on the relevant machinery both to guarantee their safety and also to ensure that a product is produced according to specification.
Warehouse Supervision:
* Positive release of Finished Goods
* Load Lorries for dispatch
Other duties
To carry out other duties as instructed by Senior Management
Requirements
Essential
* Basic Food Hygiene Training; understanding of HACCP
* Leadership and communication skills
* Proven experience in food factory work, production or manufacturing environment
* Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
* Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Desirable
* Intermediate Food Hygiene Training; formal HACCP training
* Inspirational, motivational, and confident; calm assertive nature
