CLINICAL ASSISTANT
Job Overview:
The Clinical Assistant is responsible for individual consultations focused on cardiometabolic diseases. Other duties include taking vitals and histories, performing ECGs, educating patients on disease management and lifestyle modifications, assisting in answering patient questions, and where appropriate, conducting group medical visits. A candidate with strong administrative skills is considered an asset.
A suitable candidate could be a nurse with administrative experience or experience in the field of cardiometabolic health, a kinesiologist, physician assistant, undergraduate student, or a Masters student with a background in health sciences and an interest in helping to develop clinical pathways in the clinic. We are looking for someone to be involved in scaling the clinic in the long term. Comfort with technology is an important asset.
About Our Clinic:
The Cardiometabolic Collaborative Clinic is a specialist-run, multi-disciplinary clinic that focuses on the management of cardiometabolic risk factors. We can decrease the risk of cardiac events and mortality through patient care and education. Our patients are seen for a variety of conditions such as diabetes, lipid management, weight management, bone health, and more.
Our clinic was accepted into the Consultant Specialist Team Care (CTSC) program, designed to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of team care models across British Columbia. The successful candidate would be trained as a part of this program and is expected to be an integral member of the team long term.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient education and disease management.
2. Documenting patient interactions in Oscar EMR software.
3. Taking vitals and performing ECGs.
4. Support clinic physicians by ensuring their needs are met.
5. Handle patient inquiries and complaints with sensitivity and professionalism.
6. Collaborating with the in-office team as well as other allied care professionals.
7. Various administrative tasks related to patient care, where appropriate.
Qualifications:
1. Degree in nursing, kinesiology, or health sciences. Undergraduate students are welcome to apply.
2. Proficiency in Oscar EMR and Ocean MD, preferred.
3. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize urgent tasks in a fast-paced environment.
4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
5. Ability to take initiative and problem-solve.
6. Experience in handling sensitive, confidential information.
7. Ability to adapt to a growing and evolving clinic environment.
Hours:
Part-time or Full-time, Monday to Friday, schedule negotiable. Expected hours: 20-40 hours per week.
Pay: $30.00-$45.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
