Role overview
We are looking for a strategic, intelligent and commercial individual to provide world-class data analysis for our fashion reports. The Senior Data Analyst must demonstrate an understanding of fashion and data analysis which they can combine to enhance and underpin the work that the Content team delivers across fashion. The successful candidate will not only work with our content teams to analyse data and aid in the generation of breakthrough insight and trends for the different products we produce, but also work with our data science team on our forecasting tool Trendcurve AI.
The team
The Decision Science team spans across the UK, US, Singapore, and Spain. We collaborate across all time zones to provide global data insights across Fashion, Beauty, Sports & Outdoor and other verticals.
Key accountabilities
* Provide high quality and accurate analysis for WGSN‘s Fashion content.
* Provide editors with insight on past and future trends, and any growth opportunities.
* Conduct primary and secondary research across a variety of quant data sets and deliver analysis that provides actionable recommendations that will benefit the client’s future business.
* Tackle the challenge of extracting business intelligence from large data sets. Ability to see beyond the numbers.
* Proactively suggest ways to visualize complex data sets, generating charts/tables that give insightful views of key business issues and opportunities.
* Able to collaborate with data teams in region and across territories to ensure consistency of data analysis across the company.
* Is a strong participant and contributor to the creation, sharing and learning culture to provide inspiration and relevant information for the benefit of the global Editorial team’s deliverables.
* Is accountable for personal objectives and designated KPIs by working within editorial guidelines to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
* Is confident to take an active and vocal role in team meetings, putting forward new ideas and suggestions for data integration.
* Responsibility for projects being delivered in brief, in a relevant, insightful and commercially.
* Effectively communicate data insights and findings to stakeholders with varying levels of data expertise, promoting education and understanding across diverse audiences.
* Act as a bridge between data science and editorial teams.

Skills, experience & qualifications required
* An ability to explain data to people who don’t get it is a must.
* Experience in fashion retail/merchandising/buying/e-commerce is a strong advantage.
* At least 3-4 years of experience in a data analyst role.
* Creative, commercial, resourceful, innovative & able to cope under pressure.
* Ability to analyse large amounts of data and pinpoint trends that will impact the market.
* A person that gets things done and a problem solver.
* An analytical mind, with the ability to distinguish between what is important and what is not, making the complex simple.
* Curious, flexible and a strategic thinker with gravitas that can inspire their clients, peers and more junior colleagues.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills comfortable to tackle work within a global team.
Technical Experience with:
* Required - Databases (one or multiple): Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.
* Ideal - Languages (one or multiple): SQL (must), Python (beneficial), R, Java, etc.
* Visualisation (one or multiple): Tableau, Looker, Power BI, etc.
* Familiar with general computer use including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
* Beneficial to have experience with Statistical modelling/forecasting (Regression, DOE, AB Testing), Databricks & Sprint Planning/Development using JIRA.
