SEMH Teacher Location: Wirral Pay: £130 - £170 Per day, dependent on payroll choice Sector: Independent Special Needs School We are looking for a dedicated SEMH Teacher to join our team at an independent special needs school on the Wirral. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, helping them reengage with their education, develop emotional regulation, and build their confidence. About the School: This small provision caters for young people aged 11-14 who have experienced disruptions to their education. The school focuses on rebuilding students' confidence and self-esteem through a multi-agency approach, combining academic support with emotional and therapeutic development. With a capacity for 32 students (currently 12 on roll), the school offers small class sizes (3-5 pupils) and a high staff-to-student ratio. Students also take part in enriching activities such as horse riding, team-building, and vocational training in beauty and hairdressing, gaining life skills alongside their academic learning. Your Role as an SEMH Teacher: Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of students with SEMH challenges. Provide support to students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment. Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to engage students and promote learning, focusing on both academic and emotional development. Build positive relationships with students to boost their self-esteem and emotional regulation. Differentiate lesson content to ensure all students can access the curriculum and make progress. Work closely with colleagues and support staff to implement personalised education plans for each student. What We're Looking For: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience or a keen interest in working with students with SEMH needs. A passion for supporting students to manage their emotions, build confidence, and achieve their potential. Strong communication and classroom management skills. Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs. A proactive attitude and a commitment to helping students re-engage with their education.
