Are you an experienced Estates Surveyor looking to make a significant impact? Thanet District Council is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented individual to lead our property disposal programme and support our property management function. About the Estates Surveyor Role: As an Estates Surveyor, your primary focus will be on achieving our ambitious asset disposal targets, generating crucial capital receipts for the authority. You will play a key role in identifying disposal methods, optimising value, and resolving site-specific issues, ensuring the successful completion of the disposal process. In addition to disposals, you will also support the commercial property management function, contributing to income generation through lease renewals, rent reviews, and tenant management. We seek a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong foundation in commercial property law and RICS valuation principles, a comprehensive understanding of Local Government legislation and the regulatory framework governing the public sector and asset disposal, and proven experience in estates management and surveying within both commercial property and a Local Authority/Local Government or public sector context. Thanet is a great place to live and work Our historic seaside towns of Ramsgate, Margate and Broadstairs and surrounding villages are rich in heritage and opportunity. With 19 miles of stunning coastline, our beautiful Blue Flag beaches, the internationally renowned Turner Contemporary, and the UK’s only Royal Harbour are all just a short train ride from central London thanks to the high-speed rail link. Our proximity to the port of Dover and the Eurotunnel at Folkestone mean Europe is literally on our doorstep too. All of this, combined with a flexible approach to how we work, makes it an exciting time to join Thanet District Council. We have set our sights high. We want our residents to enjoy the highest quality services. We want to ensure that by listening to local people, working in active partnership and doing things in an innovative way, we can accelerate improvement to meet the challenges ahead.
