EP Advisor - Nights

Are you an experienced Emergency Planning Advisor (EP Advisor) who has previously taken responsibility for ensuring that platforms have adequately trained personnel and sufficient, effective equipment and resources to deliver efficient emergency management and incident response?
Are you a problem solver? Can you identify and implement solutions to issues related to emergency arrangements and responses without needing to consult management?
Please note this is a night role and will require you to work on night shifts.
Purpose of the role:
The Advisor will form and develop effective, productive working relationships with platform construction and HSE management teams and serve as a first point of reference for matters relating to emergency planning and response at platform level.
The EP Advisor will be responsible for supervising a team of platform-based Emergency Planning Monitors who will be responsible for the operational delivery of matters pertinent to emergency preparedness and response.
Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:
* The Advisor will undertake Horizon Scanning, the first 4 elements of Integrated Emergency Management (IEM) is carried out effectively, in that Anticipation, Assessment, Prevention and Preparation activity will be undertaken to mitigate against risk.
* To provide support and resilience in the manager role. Including, where necessary or relevant representing the BYLOR Emergency Planning Team at the Principal Contractor's Emergency Preparedness & Response Liaison Group (EPRLG) and other meetings that consider BYLOR's emergency preparedness and response readiness.
* Providing first-line supervision of BYLOR Emergency Planning Monitors &/or personnel when deployed on tasks associated with inspecting, remedying, improving platform emergency arrangements, equipment and signage.
* Assuming responsibility for the identification of any emergency or emergency response equipment loss, defect or deficiencies & resolving such loss, defect or deficiencies as expediently as possible
* To ensure that BYLOR is and remains compliant with site emergency arrangements and in particular Nuclear Site Licence Conditions 8, 11 (as it relates to emergency/rescue equipment).
* Providing Subject Matter Expertise (SME) advice & resources to construction management Team
* To ensure that regular emergency drills and exercises are scheduled, notified, delivered, recorded.AT LEAST 1 per month, at platform, sub-platform level for each working shift.
* Producing and delivering relevant toolbox talks, as required, to all staff and operatives on subjects relevant to emergency planning & preparedness
* To ensure that all such documentation is comprehensively completed as soon as practicable.

Providing SME advice or tactical advice concerning emergency arrangements and response requirements to the BYLOR ‘Silver Commander' (Tactical Manager) as may be required in the event that the BYLOR Strategic Tactical Emergency Management (STEM) Cell is invoked.
Essential skills & knowledge:
* Be experienced in supervising personnel in fast moving, dynamic operational response type environments,
* Possess meticulous research & planning aptitudes and capabilities,
* Be capable of working on own initiative, identifying excellent problem solving skills,
* Be capable of demonstrating flexibility and drive,
* Be able to provide management advise to senior leaders (at tactical level of emergency management & response)
* adequately represent the interests of the BYLOR Emergency Planning & Fire Safety Lead at BYLOR organisational meetings or meetings with external stakeholders as directed.

Education & Qualifications:
* A good knowledge of Confined Space working regulation and rescue requirements (C&G Level 2 & 3 Award – 6160 series)
* A good knowledge regarding the use of proprietary rescue equipment for rescue from height, rescue from depth.
* Environmental Health Awareness
* Compliance with the annual BYLOR Roles & Responsibilities ‘Check In' process.
If you do not have all the qualifications surrounding the above requirements, you will be required to undertake training within 12 months of appointment.

All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O'Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.
Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
