Job Description
As a Transport Planner you will provide a plan that deploys the allocated resource pool in the most effective way and ensure the plan meets all legal obligations in respect of WTD and EU Drivers Legislation.
* Salary: £34,000 per annum
* Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 06:00 - 16:00
Key Duties of a Transort Planner:
* Escalation of late runners to customer services
* Input trailer numbers, fleet numbers and driver’s names as soon as practical to do so allocated against work
* Input of Arrival & departure times in Truckcom System against deliveries
* Monitor Time lapse and Restricted parking reports by specified time, focusing on unproductive time and excessive breaks/waiting times
* Check resource availability for the shifts ahead vs workloads
* Confirm driver start times for next day before 16:00 hours
* Monitor and report WTD issues / concerns to Operations team
* Monitor terminal lifting and restitution times
* Ensure VBS bookings are made before vehicles arrive at Ports
* Ensuring there is ongoing verbal communication with the driving team to supplement the use of Truckcom
* Ensuring there is clear daily communication between day and night shifts, utilising the night shift handover documents
* Managing drivers hours in relation to customer requirements and volume demand and start and finish times
* Understanding and achieving specific targets regarding utilisation, loaded, empty legs and profitability
* Understanding and putting into practice communication from Team Supervisors (via conference calls), particularly:
o Managing traffic flows
o Trailer type utilisation
o Monitoring TLC customers
* Regularly assisting when required at drivers / debrief counter including external drivers calling in via phone
* Allocation of containers to customer loads
* Reviewing allocated customers in assigned RP, ensuring work is planned to time and correct equipment
* Communicate with ESL Customer Services and Drivers, ensuring customer KPI targets are met
* Complete and report Benefits and Concerns on a weekly basis
* Daily sign off own and agency hours for the previous day
* Management of driver hours vs Working Time Directive and compliance
Qualifications
* Working knowledge in Truckcom, GTS applications.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel and Outlook
* Working knowledge of WTD and EU Drivers Hours
* Experience in a transport planning environment.
