Social Worker
Job Overview
Opportunities have arisen for Social Work Practitioners within the Integrated Care Teams. Salford is looking to recruit experienced and newly qualified Social Work practitioners to help deliver our community-led support vision. This role requires a passion for social work, enabling effective integrated working, promoting independence through reablement approaches, and safeguarding adults in Salford. You will be responsible for carrying out social work duties, requiring high levels of skills, knowledge, and professional expertise. You will assist the Team Manager in ensuring the delivery of effective, safe integrated services for adults through the promotion of high standards of practice in assessment and person-centred support planning.
Main Duties of the Job
You will be a skilled, effective practitioner acting with considerable autonomy. You should have in-depth knowledge and skill in one or more fields of practice, developed through formal post-qualifying training and development activity. You should have or be expected to undertake Practice Educator training and support student Social Workers. You may have or be expected to undertake a postgraduate qualification and role in specialised practice (e.g., AMHP, BIA). You will need to integrate professional knowledge, the views of people using services, and research/evaluation evidence in your practice. You will need to demonstrate expert and effective practice in complex situations, assessing and managing higher levels of risk while promoting enablement and self-determination. You will need to network and liaise with a wider range of professionals and colleagues, including at more senior or strategic levels. You will need to manage complex caseloads and offer expert opinion within the organisation and to others.
Working for Our Organisation
We are committed to supporting the recruitment and retention of our Social Work staff. The Trust recognises that many experienced Social Work staff are likely to be employed by local government organisations. To ensure clarity over terms and conditions of employment, we offer National Joint Council Pay Scales to Social Workers we appoint, rather than NHS pay-scales. We have adopted the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment which is used for recognising continuous service regarding annual leave, sickness, and maternity for moves within Greater Manchester. We also recognise previous, continuous, national local government service regarding annual leave.
