Commercial Litigation Associate
Here at VWV, our commercial litigation team is just thriving. We are now looking for a bright and positive lawyer, most likely working at or around the Associate level (although we will consider candidates outside of this level), to join our Directory rated team.
About us
We're a Top 100, full-service UK law firm with just over 500 employees. With 4 offices in Bristol, Birmingham, London and Watford, you'll be struck by our close-knit and friendly culture. We believe in integrity and authenticity- in each one of us being ourselves both in our interactions with each other as well as with our clients. With a reputation not just for the quality of our work, but also for the qualities of our people, we strive to recruit individuals who are proactive and passionate about what they do and able to demonstrate humour and humility in equal measure.
Whilst you're unlikely to be surprised by the quality of our work, you may be surprised by the breadth of it. Our clients range from family owned business, SMEs, PLCs and multi-national organisations within sectors such as healthcare, education, technology, life sciences and real estate as well as charities.
The role
Headed up by Chambers acclaimed Partner,, our team is large enough to have strength and depth and small enough to enjoy each other's company. In this way you'll gain the best of both worlds- an opportunity to shine and the support in place to enjoy your development path.
Here at VWV, we pride ourselves on the quality and breadth of our work and this role proves to be no exception. On a day-to-day basis, you'll work closely with our Bristol based team, enjoying the opportunity to get involved in a full range of varied and high-quality commercial litigation work. Your workload will include business disputes (like breaches of contract and corporate including shareholder and director, disputes), reputation management, professional negligence, fraud and procurement claims, but please rest assured you will not be expected to have experience in all these areas. A key feature of this role is the opportunity to help to develop our growing contentious financial services practice. The work is high quality and includes a wide range of claimant and defendant matters for retail financial services clients within the sector. As such you'll be excited by the opportunity to help develop a specialism, whilst still able to maintain a broad platform of work for the wider team, should you wish.
About you
You're most likely working at or around the Associate level (although we will of course consider candidates outside of this guide) and are now looking to join a warm and collaborative firm where dispute resolution is considered "core" to the firm's success. You may be coming from a Top 100 UK law firm or perhaps you're working with a smaller boutique firm or within industry. Whatever your pathway to date, if you have a strong background in commercial litigation and a keen interest in financial services, then we'd love to hear from you.
The nature of your work, as well as our inclusive and open culture mean that you'll regularly work with colleagues in our other offices. This collaborative working is so entrenched in our DNA that it's one of our firmwide values and it ensures that from the moment you join us, you'll feel part of the "VWV family".
Here at VWV we recognise that each one of us is an individual. We are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. If you require any special adjustments to be made in order to be considered for this role, then please do call us (see contact details in the "How to Apply" section below), as we will be happy to do so.
Where will I be working?
At VWV we have a truly unique and engaging culture that we hold dear. We work hard but we also love to have fun and we recognise that it's the social interaction between us that really shapes our culture. Whilst we work to a hybrid model, for this role we would like you to work from our Bristol office for at least part of the week. In this way, you'll benefit first-hand from our warm and friendly culture as well as facilitate cross referral opportunities from your colleagues in the wider department and other teams. We are of course happy to discuss any specific requirements of hybrid working with candidates on an individual basis.
