OAK unit/ Ward 2 is a complex medical ward based at Trafford General Hospital, with a focus on frailty and complex discharge assessment. We are fortunate to work with a dedicated ward-based multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will assess, plan, evaluate, and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate, and sensitive manner. Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students.
The post holder will take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and the maintenance of high standards of quality patient care on a shift basis.

OAK unit is a medical ward with a specialism in care of the older person. The ward works using a multidisciplinary approach and are looking for new team members who have an interest in frailty and caring for the older person with complex medical needs.
A structured induction and training program ensure that our nurses receive the following:
1. Band 5 induction
2. Corporate and Clinical induction
3. Preceptorship and clinical skills program for Nurses led by Practice Based Educators
4. Administration of IV drugs
There will also be the opportunity to attend the LEAD courses provided by the trust.
