Job summary
Applications are invited for a Portfolio Pathway Clinical Fellow (ST3-9) post in Urology. This is a rotational post across Bristol, Swindon, Bath, and Gloucester, with one year expected on each site. We invite applications from urologists who are looking to broaden their experience to support a Portfolio Pathway registration on the specialist registrar. Clinical work will be tailored to experience and training needs. This post is ideal for candidates seeking to gain a broad urological experience to support a competitive application.
The post offers a minimum of 2 training operating sessions per week with one-to-one Consultant supervision, as well as supervised experience in outpatient clinics, urological procedures, and emergency work. There are opportunities to develop audit and research projects, be involved in clinical trials, and you will be assigned a named Educational Supervisor.
The post is for a full-time contract and the successful candidate will be asked to take part in registrar-level Urology on-call duties. Ideally, candidates should have a minimum of six months experience in urology. Progression is subject to successfully achieving these development goals.
Main duties of the job
This post will provide the necessary training with access to appropriate specialties, to enable the post holder to collect sufficient evidence of experience and training to present to the RCoS Equivalence Committee for Inclusion on the specialist register and therefore eligibility to apply for consultant posts. This evidence is collected in the same way as a trainee with a NTN, submitting assessments, reflections, and feedback in line with the 2021 urology curriculum, using the ISCP platform, under the guidance of educational supervisors.
You will work to improve clinical skills in Urology commencing at ST3 level or above and engage in research, teaching, or Quality Improvement Activities, under the guidance of an Educational Supervisor, with a view to gaining the required competencies to progress to Portfolio Pathway specialist registration.

* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* Completed Core Surgical Training/equivalent

* ALS, APLS, and/or ATLS
* At least 6 months experience of Urology

* Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems both emergency and elective within specialty
