Job summary
Operational Service Delivery Lead: South Staffs Older People and Physical Disability Services
A full time and temporary (3 months) opportunity is available for an experienced and dynamic individual to lead the South Staffs Older People and Physical Disability teams. This is to provide cover for the current postholder during planned sickness absence. Cover starting as soon as possible in January is desired. As an experienced manager you will be working closely with the teams, managers and partner agencies to deliver high quality social care services to adults and their carers.
This is a dynamic post and you will be working closely with multi-disciplinary teams and agencies in addressing a range of care and support issues to enable individuals to remain in their own homes using a strength based approach. You will play a key role in ensuring that quality, finance and performance are upheld across the service with scope and support to develop areas of specialism with the teams.

Job responsibilities
The successful applicant should be experienced in managing a team of Social Care Staff and have significant experience in adult safeguarding and be able to support the district with complex casework and management of high risk situations. The successful postholder will be well supported by existing peers and line management in carrying out their roles and responsibilities as defined in the attached JD/PS.
You should be able to demonstrate commitment, resilience, enthusiasm, effective communication and strong decision making skills and be both an experienced manager and be willing to develop and acquire skills, knowledge and subsequent experience to take on the more senior operational responsibilities that come with this position.
The expectation is that the successful applicant will work from the South Staffs office for a minimum of 3 days per week, in line with the needs of the organisation.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
Essential
* Qualified and Registered Social Work Practitioner
* Masters level qualification or equivalent experience in relevant professional or managerial Stage 2 AMHP MA Qualification, Social Work Post Qualifying Award)
* Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) or Best Interest Assessor (BiA) status OR willing to work towards within a defined timescale
* Evidence of ongoing continued professional development.
Desirable
* Postgraduate qualification in management and/or leadership.
* Leadership or other organisational development training
Experience
Essential
* Significant experience in operational and/or leadership role in the NHS or Local Authority delivering the relevant statutory functions.
* Experience of managing a social work service, complex projects and/or delivering clinical/practitioner services for adults
* Experience of leading and delivering service developments and successfully managing organisational change.
Desirable
* In-depth knowledge of local commissioning and provider context including health, social care and education.
* Experience of teaching social work both undergraduate and postgraduate
