Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Operations Director as a Surveyor, you will provide the commercial support to the Surveying team on projects to ensure that projects are procured and delivered within budget and to the highest quality whilst exceeding our customers’ expectations.
Making sure that the financial position of our projects is accurate is essential, and managing the contractual relationships between the various parties is vital.
Key duties & accountabilities will include:
* Being responsible for the Surveying duties on multiple contracts at one time.
* Attendance at and on occasion chairing of client/subcontract and internal team meetings.
* PQS and client liaison.
* Monthly project valuations.
* Monthly Cost Value Reconciliations.
* Subcontractor/supplier enquiries & order placements.
* Subcontractor/supplier comparisons.
* Production of collateral warranty documentation for CDP elements.
* On-site remeasuring of various packages, or remeasurement from drawings, using appropriate software where applicable.
* Checking of subcontractor and supplier invoices and applications for payment.
* Cashflow forecasts.
* Monitoring and valuing of all project variations.
* Reviewing and checking of Contract Documents.
* Working in collaboration with the construction and estimating departments as necessary.
* Other duties to be determined and as directed by the surveying, construction, or estimating departments.
* Assist with the ongoing Training and education of Junior Staff.
Experience/Qualifications required:
* At least 5 years’ experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a recognised Main Contractor.
* Ideally qualified to degree level in Quantity Surveying, however, consideration will be given to applicants without this but who have sufficient industry experience.
* Good technical knowledge and desire to learn more.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong analytical skills, highly organised, excellent attention to detail, and effective written communication.
* Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and work in a fast-moving environment.
* Good understanding of basic law and standard construction contracts.
* Valid UK full driving licence.
* Experience of working with MS office applications and Cost Control systems.
* Knowledge of electronic document control systems and CAD Measure etc.
* Good time keeping and ability to work to strict timetables.
* Happy to work on site or in the office.
