About the Role
Are you an experienced Project Manager looking to lead critical infrastructure projects? We are seeking a dynamic and driven Lead Project Manager to take ownership of complex, multi-disciplinary design and build projects. This role is pivotal in delivering key upgrades to the National Electrical Infrastructure while ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance.
You will be responsible for coordinating and managing a team of project managers and engineers, ensuring smooth execution from planning to completion. This includes overseeing engineering, procurement, quality control, and commercial activities, ensuring that all requirements are met within scope, time, and budget.
Key Responsibilities
·Manage critical projects within the Engineering Solutions business unit, ensuring contractual obligations are met on time and within budget.
·Lead and coordinate a multi-disciplinary project team to deliver structured and efficient project execution.
·Oversee commercial, technical, and quality aspects of the project.
·Develop, maintain, and drive progress against the project program.
·Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including extensions of time, extra work claims, and other legal requirements.
·Conduct project reviews to track progress, control costs, identify risks, and manage change evolution.
·Prepare accurate project estimates to the highest engineering standards, liaising with internal and external suppliers for competitive quotes.
·Contribute to financial control and profitability through innovative working methods.
·Participate in kick-off meetings, site visits, team meetings, and client discussions, ensuring key information is effectively communicated.
·Provide weekly and monthly progress reports to clients and senior leadership.
·Foster strong client relationships, ensuring ongoing collaboration and satisfaction.
·Maintain compliance with CDM, SHE, and Quality standards through personal leadership and team engagement.
·Procure materials, subcontractor orders, and manage subcontractor performance.
·Supervise and ensure integration of design requirements across all project disciplines.
·Effectively manage an engineering team, facilitating successful project delivery.
·Contribute to design development and review meetings.
Project Scope & Dimensions
·Project Size: Up to £5m
·Sector: High Voltage (HV) Electrical Infrastructure
·Geographical Scope: UK-wide with required travel to sites and suppliers
Essential Skills & Experience
·Proven experience in estimating and managing projects within the Power & Energy sector.
·Strong communication, negotiation, and influence skills at all levels.
·Excellent knowledge of commercial practices and contract law.
·Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Project Management Tools.
·Experience managing projects in High Voltage (HV) substation environments.
·NEC 4 contract experience with practical knowledge of project cycle management.
·Ability to travel to client and supplier sites as required.
·Full UK driving license.
Desirable Skills
·Strong knowledge of HSE, QA, and CDM compliance.
·Experience with Primavera P6 and program development.
·Understanding of Temporary Works and Low Voltage Electrical Design.
·Knowledge of HV Transmission systems.
Qualifications
·Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or Project Management.
·Electrical/Electronic Engineering qualifications such as HNC, ONC, or City & Guilds.
·NEC 4 Project Management Accreditation preferred.
