Job overview
We require an enthusiastic audiologist to join our multi-disciplinary Paediatric Audiology team at Hackney Ark and The Royal London hospital.
The post holder will be required to work efficiently and effectively, liaising with patients, carers, clinicians and other service users as required. Candidates will be expected to undertake a range of clinical duties including complex paediatric audiology assessment and habilitation.
The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a busy environment; the applicant will preferably have experience working in a paediatric audiology department. You must be flexible and a team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Experience in using Microsoft office software, IT literate and numerate is essential. Ideally the candidate will be experienced in using auditbase.
In view of the nature of the service, it is essential you are able to deal calmly with children, young people and families who may at times be feeling anxious or distressed.
Main duties of the job
1. To perform specialist diagnostic audiological procedures, and provide a comprehensive specialist hearing aid service to children, including determining care plans for individual patients, and involving carers and families as appropriate.
2. To assist with the day-to-day management of the joint Tower Hamlets and City and Hackney Paediatric service.
3. To take an active role in areas of clinical audit, research and clinical governance for the Audiology service, which may include designing and completing audits within own field, participating in data collection for larger projects, and contributing to the development of evidence based protocols.
4. To plan and prioritise elements of own workload, within the framework of service delivery priorities as defined by the Clinical Lead and Head of Service, and supervise the work of other members of the team as appropriate, including junior audiologists, trainees and students.

Qualifications
* MSc in Audiological Science plus CAC/CCC
* BSc Audiology OR BTEC qualification in Medical Physics and Psychological Measurement & Successfully completed both parts of BAAT I and II (or equivalent)
* Evidence of CPD
* Eligible/registered as a clinical scientist with HPC or on the voluntary register with RCCP
* Advanced courses in Audiology
* British Sign Language Qualifications
* Membership of BAA and/or BSA
* Doctorate in Audiology (AuD, PhD)
Experience
* NHS experience as a Band 6/ post CAC/CCC within paediatric audiology, including behavioural and electrophysical assessment and rehabilitation
* Responsibility for areas of speciality within Audiology and/or general administration
* Experience of IQIPS
* Experience of managing staff
* Experience of school screening programmes
