Full – Time SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) – Aldershot, Hampshire GSL Education are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a supportive secondary school in Aldershot, Hampshire. The role offers a competitive pay rate between £83.85 and £93.85 per day, depending on experience. This position is available for an immediate start or from February 2025, depending on the successful candidate’s notice period. Role: The successful candidate will work within the school’s SEN provision, providing support to students with special educational needs (SEN). You will be responsible for assisting students on a 1:1 or small group basis, ensuring they are engaged and able to access the curriculum effectively. Experience working with SEN students is essential, and candidates from the care sector will also be considered. Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) : Support students with SEN (Special Educational Needs) within the classroom, providing tailored assistance to enhance their learning. Work closely with the SENCo and other staff to deliver support strategies and interventions. Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students. Support students with emotional and social challenges, ensuring their safety and well-being. Help students with physical, academic, or social tasks as directed by teaching staff. Encourage positive behaviour and assist students in managing their emotions. Observe students' progress and provide feedback to the SENCO and teachers. Requirements of the SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) : Previous experience working with students with SEN (ideally in a secondary school setting) or in the care sector. Knowledge of strategies for supporting students with a variety of needs, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and physical disabilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and staff. A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach. Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team. Experience or understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
