Job overview
Do you have the skills and enthusiasm for working in a rehabilitation setting? A vacancy has arisen in our Specialist Rehabilitation team. This rewarding role is ideal if you have a passion for supporting people on their rehab journey. Working as a Therapy Assistant, you would be providing essential support for Therapists and playing an important part in our Stroke and Neuro rehabilitation service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
• Manage a caseload delegated by clinicians
• Independently undertake basic assessments and interventions relevant to delegated caseload
• Contribute to the evaluation of programmes and patient’s progression making minor alterations in consultation with the therapist/dietitian.
• Support therapists/dietitians with complex cases as required
• Work with team members to ensure the effective functioning of the team
• Work in partnership with patients, carers, the multi-disciplinary team and wider statutory, private and voluntary sector services.
• Participate in activities to improve the service area
• Work flexibly according to patient and service needs
Person specification
Qualifications
* Good general level of education including GCSEs in English and Maths
* Completed courses relevant to therapy and/or dietetics
* ECDL or formal qualifications in word processing and spreadsheets
Experience
* Experience of working in health care, social care or education
* Experience of working with people with a range of health needs
* Experience of carrying out therapeutic interventions
* Experience of working in a team
* Experience in use of IT applications
* Recent experience of working in therapy or dietetic services
Skills
* Communication skills including observation, listening and empathy
* Skills to empower people to realise and maintain their potential in relation to health and well-being
* Analytical and reflective skills
* Planning and organisational skills
* Negotiation and problem-solving skills
* Supervisory skills

* Car driver with access to a vehicle and/or to be able to travel between sites and to patients’ homes in a timely manner

* Knowledge of the impact illness and disability have on function

* Knowledge of the roles of other professionals and the principles of partnership working
