About the role
National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is at the heart of energy in the UK. The electricity that our network provides gets the nation to work, powers schools and brings energy to life. Our network connects the nation, so it's essential that it's continually evolving, advancing, and improving. In NGET we are passionate about both operating safely and providing a highly reliable quality of supply for our customers.
We're currently recruiting for Power System Engineers and Senior Power System Engineers to lead and support on the development of innovative and effective solutions within the Power System Engineering functions of our Network Development team.
Proactively engaging with stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into accessible language, and taking ownership of issues to drive initiatives forward, you'll get involved in evaluating dynamic performance for HVDC and FACTS devices, as well as wind farms, while conducting essential studies such as control interaction studies. You'll be responsible for scoping, undertaking, and interpreting Power System analysis to facilitate transmission network investment planning across multiple timescales.
By collaborating across various engineering functions, you'll contribute to the development of comprehensive network solutions that align with regulatory requirements and consumer interests, whilst fully exploiting the use of transmission asset ratings in system access plans, balancing asset costs and risks against benefits.
You'll also assist team members in conducting detailed technical analysis and developing complex system outage plans to provide access to the electricity transmission system, identifying solutions and strategies to manage system security and minimize transmission constraint costs and risks.
Ultimately, these roles play a critical part in designing and ensuring the reliability of the electricity transmission system while supporting the transition to a sustainable energy future.
Additionally, as a Senior Power System Engineer, you'll oversee and mentor team members in Power System studies, ensuring high-quality outputs through constructive feedback and collaboration.
All roles are based in our office in Warwick, and this can be combined with hybrid working from home.
