The Housing Options Service has recently been through a service redesign and are now on a transformation journey. We are looking to recruit a Rough Sleeper Outreach Worker where you would be able to make a real difference to the residents of Cornwall. This is a specialist post intended to engage with people who are sleeping rough in Cornwall and manage a case load of customers that are seeking assistance with a variety of housing related issues. This role will ensure that housing advice and assistance is delivered to a group of people who can be hard to engage with; whilst maintaining a high standard of practice and ensuring the Council’s statutory duties are met in line with key performance indicators. It can be very rewarding at times and I have some amazing stories" Ashleigh Evans – Homeless Outreach Officer The post holder will work as part of county wide case work team; responding to Streetlink alerts, providing specialist advice through face to face interviews either within the office or surgery based environment or working closely with partner agencies, such as St Petrocs, Coastline and We Are With You. The Homelessness Prevention & Engagement Outreach Worker (Rough Sleepers) will be at the forefront of the delivery of this service and will contribute to the promotion, development and improvement of a proactive homelessness prevention and relief service in accordance with the Housing Options pathway and contribute to the successful delivery of the Cornwall Rough Sleeping Reduction Strategy. The key purpose of the team is to: To ensure that appropriate housing options and advice is delivered in a variety of formats to meet service delivery for all customers approaching the service in housing need To provide high – quality homelessness prevention, advice and assistance to households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness Thorough assessment and investigation of customers housing circumstances ensuring this is compliant with statutory duties and polices Provide specialist housing advice to key client groups Deliver service 7 days a week on a rota basis, with the post holder expected to work 1 in 6 weekends. What you’ll need to succeed: You will have a can-do positive attitude, seeking and using best practice from across the sector, valuing contributions from colleagues and service users alike. You will regularly use reflective practice with your team to sense check service delivery. You will have an agile, dynamic, creative and solution focused approach, which is tailored to the needs of the individual, employing a trauma informed and strengths-based approach. This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
