Main duties of the job As a Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse you will work with our Ground Floor nursing teams and report directly into the Head of Department. Our Ground Floor Department contains 30 beds and includes residents with complex neurological and respiratory needs. You will work to support the multi-disciplinary team and junior nursing teams in caring for people of all ages who are living with neurological and long-term conditions, including those living with physical disabilities and recovering from traumatic injuries, and providing a high level of personal and rehabilitative care. You will contribute to the leadership of the department, working closely with the Head of Department and there will be opportunities to develop your leadership skills. It can be very physical working with people with limited mobility, providing personal care and although challenging, it is highly rewarding. Youll be supported by a team of colleagues ready to lend a hand and work together to a common goal.No two days are the same, with plenty to keep you engaged and motivated, but also a good amount of routine. Youll join our teams that support people who have complex rehabilitation needs such as tracheostomies / ventilated / peg feeds and who have extensive and long-term rehabilitation goals. In some cases, peoples mobility and speech can be affected and we work closely with a range of other services including wheelchair, speech and alternative communication aid providers. About us The Dean Neurological Centre has 60 beds in Gloucester (GL2 9EE), which is on the outskirts of the town within easy commute from Gloucester, Cheltenham with good transport links. The Centre delivers specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy services for people with complex long-term neurological conditions who require ongoing support and assistance to maximise functional ability. It specialises in slow stream rehabilitation where the emphasis is placed on maximising each individual's abilities, comfort and quality of life. Bedrooms are fitted with high dependency equipment, including ceiling track hoists, wall mounted suction and oxygen equipment., with all rooms adapted to individual requirements. There are also well-equipped therapy facilities and other facilities such as gardens, gym and minibus.
