Position Overview
This role will support our North Region and will involve travel to stores & boutiques around Manchester, Cheshire, Leeds, Scotland and other locations across our North UK Region. The People & Development (P&D) Associate / HR Advisor contributes to the successful achievement of P&D objectives through close partnership with colleagues across the P&D function; specifically Senior P&D Manager, Retail Business Partners, P&D Lead, P&D Managers/Associates and the People Services team. You will be delivering a professional business partnership & advisory model covering the employee lifecycle, including employee relations, talent & acquisition, compensation & benefits and training & development across multiple stores in the North (UK/ROI).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Proactively support the P&D & Retail business objectives, working cross-functionally with other departments (e.g. employee experience/ L&D) on key people projects that support the entire life cycle of an employee.
* Partner with Line Manager and Retail business partners (e.g. Store Managers/ Regional Directors) to agree specific goals for respective stores/ region, to drive engagement and improve team performance.
* Act as a key contact for store teams, utilising the people services team on appropriate first line people queries/actions.
* Support with employee relations issues, and advise managers on HR/P&D related issues & policies as appropriate (escalate when necessary).
* Coach & support Managers with employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary, grievance hearings and the performance management process.
* Partner with Line Manager on complex employee relations, seeking appropriate legal guidance where necessary.
* Support talent management opportunities to develop succession planning and career development.
* Deliver store/manager training in People Skills (e.g. employee relations).
* Share industry best practices in 'People/ HR' developments, to support personal continuous development.
* Partner with the P&D team to update relevant HR policies, ensuring these are in line with current legislation.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in HRIS systems (e.g. Workday) and compliance with GDPR Regulations.
* Assist with local recruitment needs (partnering with the Talent Acquisition team) & onboarding with respective retail managers.
* Support store teams to deliver annual P&D initiatives including engagement survey, talent management and annual pay review.
* Utilise P&D/ HR metrics (e.g. labour turnover) to inform people actions across stores.
* Support people managers in the correct implementation of all people policies and procedures.
* Play a proactive part in the DE&I community to support corporate goals and actions.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
• Effective communication / interpersonal skills.
• Able to work flexibly in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Good knowledge of employment law requirements.
• Ability to work cross-functionally on multiple projects.
• Proficient in Microsoft systems, Excel, etc.
