Look no further, West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our Education Services Team.
The Role:
Reporting to the Children with Disabilities Team Manager, you will be responsible for providing high quality, specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to children and young people with disabilities. Your key responsibilities include:
1. Arrange assessment of Occupational Therapy needs for services and to work collaboratively with children and families to meet the identified needs of individuals.
2. Assessing and maintaining accurate records of needs and progress
3. To negotiate the delivery of services with providers and other Agencies e.g. specialist adaptive equipment suppliers, home improvement agency and Housing
4. Collaborating with other professionals and agencies to ensure comprehensive care and support for children and their families
5. Providing advice, guidance, and support to schools, parents, and carers to promote inclusion and enable access to learning opportunities
6. To participate in other activities which would benefit from the application of OT professional skills, e.g. working parties, special service developments, policy formulation, group work and community development work.
7. Contributing to multiagency assessments, reviews, and planning processes
8. Empowering children and young people to achieve their full potential and promote independence
9. To ensure OT professional standards are met in accordance with HCPC and COT Code of Ethics
Skills and Attributes:
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
10. Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration
11. Experience working in a similar role, ideally within a local authority or education setting
12. Sound knowledge and understanding of legislation, policies, and standards relevant to children with disabilities and special educational needs
13. Strong assessment and intervention skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams
14. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders
15. A positive and solution focused approach, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in a fast paced environment
