Head of Content Development
Chiswick, London - Hybrid.
About the role
As the Head of Content Development, you will lead a team of content development, editorial and project/programme management experts to drive the quality and delivery of content in line with editorial guidelines which support BSI's Royal Charter and its position as the UK National Standards Body. This is an exciting opportunity to support Knowledge Services, one of the fastest growing business streams within BSI and provide focused delivery on a wide range of high value, high impact projects and programmes for Government and Industry (transport, built environment, energy, sustainability, digital etc.). You will collaborate closely with key business units and stakeholders to deliver standards and supporting content, allowing the division to meet its purpose led and commercial goals. The role will also work with digital and operations teams across BSI to prepare Content Development for SMART digital standards whilst driving operational efficiencies across all aspects of content delivery.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and manage an editorial, project and programme management centre of excellence, in line with best practice.
* Provide operational guidance and support to Content Development and Senior Programme Managers to embed editorial governance policies and the standardization process throughout project lifecycles and across all standards deliverables.
* Contribute to the Knowledge Services commercial development strategy, by working closely with Senior Leadership.
* Collaborate with Group PMO to leverage project management methodologies and ensure good project structure and engagement is upheld.
* Partner with Finance to report on project revenue milestones achieved and ensure project timelines are kept and adhere to budget.
* Ensure a scalable and robust resourcing model is maintained to accommodate the project-based workload within the Content Development team.
* Collaborate with Product, Digital and Operation functions to prepare for digital standards and identify efficiency and automation opportunities within workflows by leveraging digital publishing capabilities.
* Develop and manage KPIs which demonstrate success, value-add and impact, in a clear, data-driven way.
* Take ownership of the P&L responsibility for the Content Development team.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
* Proven experience managing and driving culture in a large team.
* Previous experience running a function in an editorial, digital publishing environment.
* Demonstrable revenue delivery/responsibility in previous roles (circa £5mill+).
* Strong commercial mindset and ability to make data driven decisions.
* Exceptional understanding of technical based content creation.
* Strong stakeholder management experience to senior executive level.
The following would be beneficial:
* Experience in a global organisation.
* Previous interaction at European or International level with Standards Development Organisations or National Standards Bodies.
* Understanding of standards consensus building processes.
* Knowledge of intellectual property rights.
