UKCEH is looking for a Project Management Office (PMO) Analyst to join our 600-strong team, contributing to scientific discovery and generating the data, insights and solutions that researchers, businesses and governments need to solve complex environmental challenges.

We're in search of a PMO Analyst to become part of a newly established team within the Floods and Droughts Research Infrastructure (FDRI) project () – a large group of dedicated scientists and professionals implementing a major infrastructure project to facilitate the hydrological science and innovation needed to make the country more adaptable and resilient to floods and droughts. Such events can cause significant economic, social, and environmental impacts, and they are predicted to increase in intensity, frequency and duration in response to changes in climate and human activity.
As a member of the FDRI PMO office, a team of five project management professionals, you'll report to the PMO Manager and play a crucial part in ensuring the successful delivery of this exciting new project. The role of PMO Analyst presents a fantastic opportunity for candidates with some experience or familiarity with project management methodologies, ideally gained in industry, consulting environments, or academia, who are looking to enhance their analytical and technical skills. You will play an instrumental role in supporting the development and establishment of excellence in project management to underpin successful delivery.

Your main responsibilities will include:
8. Populating the monthly project dashboard with information from reporting templates
9. Maintaining the project plan and trackers
10. Supporting risk management and updating the project risk register
11. Using protocols, templates and guidelines to gather information on project progress, key metrics, risk management, change management and decision-making
12. Managing project information and documentation using systematic approaches
13. Sourcing and consolidating material from team members to provide preliminary content in a variety of formats for different purposes (e.g. progress reports, meeting papers, standard operating procedures, websites)
14. Facilitating meetings on project progress, capturing notes and tracking progress against actions and changes
For this role, strong analytical skills are crucial, along with a proactive and inquisitive approach to evaluating information, and identifying trends and opportunities. The ideal candidate should thrive in a small and dedicated team, embodying openness and collaboration, and should be enthusiastic about continual learning and improvement.
For the role of PMO Analyst, we’re looking for somebody who:
15. Holds a degree, preferably in science, engineering, business, or relevant work experience
16. Has a keen eye for detail and a methodical approach to routine tasks, ensuring a high level of accuracy
17. Possesses an ability to assimilate large amounts of complex information efficiently and effectively, ideally using MS Excel, MS Access or SharePoint Lists
18. Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills which enable effective interaction with people at all levels across the organisation and with external stakeholders
19. Has proven experience of working in a project, programme or PMO environment (desirable)
20. Is familiar with one or more project management methodologies (desirable, formal training can be provided if needed)
21. Is driven to find solutions yet understands the importance of seeking advice from colleagues when necessary
22. Is willing to travel within the UK for short-duration meetings and conferences when required
