Head of Live Technical Projects
REPORTING TO: Technical Director.
The Role.
The Head of Live Technical Projects is responsible for ensuring the successful technical delivery of BladeRoom Data Centre projects. This role requires close coordination with all relevant departments and stakeholders to oversee design implementation and commissioning.
You will lead the detailed planning and execution of live projects, ensuring the team fully
understands project specifications and requirements. As the main technical point of contact for the
client, you will maintain a strong, positive relationship, providing clear communication, enthusiasm,
and commercial awareness to drive successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Manage and lead internal teams while overseeing external stakeholder relations to ensure alignment and collaboration. Mentor and support the Commissioning Manager and commissioning teams, promoting adherence to SOPs and internal processes.
Technical Project Delivery & Compliance: Oversee the detailed technical planning and delivery of projects, ensuring adherence to design standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and external consultants to maintain compliance and mitigate risks.
Planning & Co-ordination: Develop and manage project technical programmes, organise workshops and planning activities involving clients, internal teams, and subcontractors to ensure technical compliance and commissioning readiness. Set high-quality standards for commissioning and drive excellence.
Subcontractor & Site Management: Manage subcontractor performance on technical matters, ensuring alignment with schedules, quality standards, and project specifications both within the BRG Assembly Facility and on-site. Assist in creating health and safety plans, RAMS, and other procedures for site-based works.
Communication & Reporting: Maintain clear communication with stakeholders and act as the primary liaison with the client for technical project work carried out on-site. Monitor and report project progress, providing regular updates for operations and client reports.
Person Specification.
* Education & Memberships: Hold a BEng in an appropriate engineering discipline; desirable professional memberships include MCIBSE, MIEE, or IMechE.
* Industry Experience: At least 10 years of stakeholder management experience, 5+ years of senior management in data centre or critical infrastructure industries, and 7+ years of data centre engineering experience at Senior Engineer level or above.
* Leadership & Team Management: Lead dynamic teams in live project environments to achieve successful outcomes. Influence, motivate, and mentor team members, fostering collaboration and high performance.
* Communication & Client Engagement: Exceptional communication skills with experience in engaging clients, holding stakeholders to account, and providing clear progress updates against objectives.
* Organisation & Planning: Skilled in managing time, priorities, and planning works to meet deadlines while overcoming obstacles. Proactive with a keen attention to detail and ability to work independently.
* Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancement and collaborate with the process improvement team to implement changes.
