If so, GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Autism Assistant to provide full-time support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a school setting in Scunthorpe. Responsibilities as an Autism Assistant: Provide tailored 1:1 or small group support to students with ASD, ensuring their individual learning and social needs are met. Assist in implementing strategies from students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to support their learning and emotional development. Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe and valued. Help manage sensory sensitivities and behaviours by using calming techniques and resources. Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to deliver consistent and effective interventions. Monitor and report on students’ progress to inform future support plans. Encourage social interaction and support students in developing key communication skills. Follow the school’s safeguarding and behaviour management policies to ensure the well-being of all students. Requirements for the as an Autism Assistant: Experience working with children or young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder or in a similar SEN role. Knowledge of strategies to support students with ASD, such as visual aids, structured routines, or sensory regulation techniques. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and staff. Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet the unique needs of each student. A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Health and Social Care) is desirable but not essential. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
