About the role:
We are currently seeking a Support Internship Job Coach to join our Foundation Learning department at The Bedford College group .
This role is within the Foundation team that provides on the job support to young people, with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities who are completing a Supported Internship programme, located at the Chicksands Military Camp.
The role is based within a small team who are supporting students to access work across soft services (cleaning and catering) at the campus. You will work on a one to one or small group basis to provide tailored support and training to individuals, ensuring they meet individualized targets and learn the skills they need to achieve and sustain paid employment.
The role could mean you are supporting a student in the morning to learn and develop work skills in various setting, before moving onto a work preparation lesson where you are supporting them to take part in a role play activity as they practice their interview skills and CV writing.
A Job Coach is a vital role to support a learner to develop communication skills, confidence, wellbeing and the ability to interact with a range of others.
Alongside working with students, you will be developing positive relationships with employers within the camp to provide meaningful work opportunities for the students you will be supporting.
As a Support Internship job Coach, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
1. Student Support - Provide support to SEND students in work placements; enable access and independence; offer personal care and physical support.
2. Programme Development - Assist in developing individual programmes; assess student progress; collaborate with teaching staff; monitor learning plans.
3. Life Skills and Relationships - Develop students' life skills; build positive relationships with employers and families; support engagement in workplace and community.
4. Administrative Duties - Maintain records; contribute to learner reports; attend meetings; participate in marketing events.
5. Statutory Duties - Promote safeguarding, equality, and diversity; follow health and safety requirements; participate in training and development.
About you:
6. Education and Qualifications - Level 2 in Maths and English; relevant Level 3 qualification or willingness to work towards.
7. Experience and Knowledge - Working knowledge of SEND; experience supporting young people with SEND; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
8. Skills - Contribute to high-quality learning; effective communication; work on own initiative; maintain accurate records; promote college reputation.
9. Attributes - Positive and adaptable attitude; make positive team contributions; demonstrate high performance; form appropriate relationships.
10. Responsibilities - Promote and safeguard welfare of children and young persons; maintain personal boundaries.
