We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Demonstrator (Photography) to join our Technical and Simulation Resources team. The purpose of the role is to demonstrate a range of photographic techniques including digital print and a traditional dark room and to support students in their use while providing additional support to the wider technical team.
The role will be varied and will include having responsibility for Health and Safety and Maintenance and there will be some autonomy in making decisions which support the student experience as well as a variety of other tasks which are detailed in the job description.
You must have excellent practical knowledge in photographic techniques, be organised, have a keen eye for detail and be comfortable dealing with a variety of personality types in a changing environment with strict deadlines as well as managing and supporting team members.

Job Purpose: To provide theoretical and practical photography advice and guidance to both staff and students and to play an integral role in managing and maintaining the equipment and studios.
Main Duties & Responsibilities Of The Role
* To work closely with academic staff and students to understand their technical requirements and use expertise in a range of photographic techniques to successfully capture and represent concepts and ideas.
* To work closely with academic staff and students to design, plan and deliver photographic shows.
* To work closely with academic staff and students to ensure that all activities adhere to relevant Health and Safety guidelines.
* To ensure students and staff are confident and proficient in the safe use of equipment and techniques.
* To contribute to the teaching of the theory and practise of photographic techniques.
* To contribute to the student experience - demonstrating an awareness of the need for ‘customer focus’ in respect of resolving issues.
* Prepare equipment and materials for use by students and academic staff.
* To ensure that equipment is correctly stored and maintained, ensuring adequate supplies of consumables.
* Any other such reasonable duties as required by senior managers in consultation with Line Manager.
* Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices.
