Accounts Assistant Location: Gloucester, Gloucestershire Hours: Full Time | Monday-Friday Salary: £26,000 per annum – pro-rated for the 6 months Job Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and efficient Accounts Assistant to manage transactional processing, including purchase invoices, credit card expenses, bank postings, and PDQ settlements. The role involves ensuring timely and accurate processing for all company entities. Key Responsibilities Process purchase invoices, ensuring they match purchase orders where applicable. Run payment runs for approval, flag any issues, and send remittance advices. Provide purchase order KPIs and raise any issues that arise. Regularly review supplier statements to ensure up-to-date ledger positions. Analyse large supplier invoices and distribute to relevant divisions. Post and reconcile daily bank activities in Sage 50, including month-end closing. Process any ad-hoc payments on the bank as needed. Ensure weekly payroll journals and payments are managed on time. Analyse credit card and expenses transactions for VAT and coding, and upload into Sage 50. Manage petty cash, signing out and reconciling monthly. Reconcile divisional takings and float accounts bi-weekly. Process PDQ payments on the bank after settling group debts. Raise and reconcile Intercompany Debtors/Creditors and nominal ledgers monthly. Provide support to departmental colleagues and assist with other duties as required. Build a collaborative relationship with divisions to improve processes. Support sustainable practices to reduce environmental impact and contribute to company sustainability goals. Key Skills & Experience Experience in a varied role with strong time management skills and the ability to multitask. Competent in Excel at an intermediate level, with the ability to manipulate data for reporting. Proficient in Sage 50 accounts and experienced in entering data and producing reports. Strong numeracy and literacy skills. Ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues. Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills to meet deadlines. Good communication skills and ability to build effective business relationships. Experience working within a group of companies would be desirable. AAT qualification would be desirable.
