An opportunity has arisen for an individual with excellent communication, administrative, motivational and supervisory skills to join the radiotherapy team at Ninewells hospital. Applications are invited from interested candidates who are looking for an opportunity to lead the booking of patient pathways in the radiotherapy department.
The post holder will lead, manage and co-ordinate the scheduling of radiotherapy pathways involving all areas of the department as well as offering guidance to other staff groups involved in scheduling. The radiotherapy pathway is complex with many associate groups and tasks and requires accurate planning and communication. The post holder will need to manage their own workload as well as problem-solving non-standard referrals and also provide capacity and waiting times data for the department. Therefore, knowledge of healthcare terminology as well as IT software packages is advantageous. Applicants should have a polite telephone manner, good oral/written communication skills, and advanced IT and keyboard skills. Telephone contact and face-to-face enquiries from all staff groups, patients, relatives, and carers, providing information, directing and prioritising queries as appropriate, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery. The ability to work well under pressure and a flexible approach to the needs of the department are essential. Applicants should have a high standard of education and as a minimum SVQ Health and Social Care level 3 or equivalent. Knowledge of referral and booking processes, NHS Tayside waiting time standards, NHS health systems or equivalent would be advantageous.
Radiotherapy services are provided for the population of Tayside and North East Fife, delivering around 1400 new courses each year for a broad spectrum of cancers. The department is technology-driven and has electronic systems for referral and booking as well as interaction with multiple other hospital systems.
Dundee is the fourth largest city in Scotland with a population of approx 148,270.
