Classification and Terminology Specialist
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Accredited Clinical Coders to join our established professional and progressive Clinical Coding Assurance Team. Competent in accurately coding multiple specialties, understanding the need for high-quality coded data to support healthcare planning, reimbursement, management of services, statistical analysis, and research. The trust is looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills. The role will require you to work to strict deadlines while still paying attention to detail and maintaining a high level of accuracy. If you are interested in assuring the Trust-wide Clinical coding SNOMED implementation and quality improvements within the clinical coding team, we are offering a unique opportunity to be involved at the intersection of health informatics and digital transformation within the Trust. You will be part of the clinical coding assurance team, liaising with the directorates and clinical service leads to provide the trust with accurate clinical information. There will be some collaboration with our sister Trust NHFT. Candidates ideally should hold the National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ), although experienced coders without it may be considered. We are committed to the health and wellbeing of our staff, including a commitment to offer flexible working; remote working will also be considered for this post.
Main Duties of the Job
It is important that all staff are aware and proactively work within the leadership framework, with compassionate leadership at the forefront of everything we do. Our staff are offered a wide variety of training and development opportunities to support their personal and career development goals. As a Senior Clinical Coder, you will be responsible for extracting clinical information from the patient's electronic medical record, then translating this medical terminology into a series of codes using international and national classifications. You will ensure departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and targets are consistently achieved, work autonomously without direct supervision, be proactive, flexible, and supportive towards an electronic way of working as the Trust develops its electronic patient record, and be self-sufficient in resolving complex clinical coding queries and issues.
