Do you want your financial expertise to make a real difference? Are you looking for a role where your skills contribute to meaningful change? The Salvation Army is looking for an Accounts Assistant to support our mission of helping victims of modern slavery.
As an Accounts Assistant, you’ll be a key part of a dedicated finance team managing a large supply chain. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, corporate finance teams, and the management accountant to ensure accurate financial processing and reporting. Your role will directly support the Modern Slavery Victim Care Contract, helping survivors transition to freedom and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Validate supplier costs by checking financial entries against case management records.
2. Process payments efficiently and ensure correct authorisation procedures are followed.
3. Resolve invoice queries by collaborating with stakeholders and suppliers.
4. Monitor transactions, report discrepancies, and escalate issues when needed.
5. Prepare financial reports, accruals, and pre-payments.
6. Assist with year-end financial activities and purchase order requests.
The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:
7. Proven experience of having worked in a similar role.
8. An understanding of bookkeeping and month-end accounting processes.
9. Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
10. Strong communication skills to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
11. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel & Word) and familiarity with accounting systems.
12. GCSEs in Maths & English (Grade C equivalent or above) and two A-Levels.
