About the role
We have a brand-new opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer or Senior to join our Property Services team based in our Manchester office. All buildings change continuously under the influence of climate, use and maintenance. Efficiency and reliability are vital, and so is the journey buildings go on as they adapt and react to an ever-changing world.
In this key and varied role, you can expect to:
1. Work cooperatively with other teams to deliver a wide variety of Projects.
2. Undertake own design, specification and site monitoring.
3. Monitor commissioning and conduct post-occupancy engineering services activities.
4. Write technical reports (feasibility, issue investigation, condition surveys).
5. Liaise with clients (commercial and project management awareness).
What You’ll Be Doing
You will be working on a varied portfolio of frameworks and projects which are predominantly UK-based but with some overseas opportunities. You will take the lead and deliver on small projects up to the value of a few £million and provide technical support to end users, Landlords, management agents, project managers and the like.
The 5 key areas that we work across in Property Services include providing the following services for our clients:
1. Technical Due Diligence – condition surveys, pre-acquisition surveys, dilapidation surveys, license to alter and associated reports.
2. Plant Replacement – smaller project works up to £3m, boiler/chiller replacement works, surveys, feasibility reports, design works, construction site duties, project management, contract administration.
3. Design – Specialising in challenging existing buildings across all RIBA stages, involving creative and innovative design solutions to enhance and transform existing buildings.
4. Maintenance / operational – quarterly inspections of buildings, preventative planned maintenance, asset registers, troubleshooting, energy optimisation.
5. Sustainability and Energy Efficiency for Existing Buildings – Focus on projects for existing buildings to reduce carbon energy use and improve the building energy rating.
About you
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
1. Qualified design engineer (chartered status or working towards).
2. Experience working on projects in existing buildings (refurbishment and fit-out).
3. Excellent written and spoken English skills.
4. Experience in performance specification work, contract administration and site duties.
5. Strong technical knowledge in primary engineering discipline and good understanding of the secondary engineering discipline.
6. Comfortable with UK and applicable EU regulations, design guides.
7. Excellent organisational and planning skills to effectively work to timescales and deadlines.
