The advertised post is substantive full time (10PA) posts which will join a well-established consultant team across the Northampton and Kettering combined Ears Nose and Throat (ENT) service. The Head Neck appointee will be predominantly based at NGH. The post holder can have cross site sessions, if required, to meet service demands. The KGH and NGH combined offer comprehensive ENT care to around 800,000 people across the district with a wider catchment for more specialised services.
Main duties of the job
HEAD NECK CANCER ROBOTIC/THYROID POST – The post holder will be based at NGH and will have the opportunity to manage Head Neck cancer patients through the regional Head Neck Cancer MDT. The regional Head and Neck Cancer and Thyroid Cancer service is centralized at the Northampton General Hospitals NHS Trust (NGH) and includes Kettering General Hospital (KGH) and Milton Keynes University hospital which covers Buckinghamshire. The combined cancer service covers a population of just fewer than 1 million. There is a weekly Head and Neck MDT and a Thyroid MDT, allowing all hospitals to be involved through a well-established video-link. Diagnostic work is carried out at KGH and MKUH while all major surgery and Chemo/Radiation therapy is offered at NGH.

Qualifications
* Completion of Specialty Training (CST or equivalent) or within 6 months of achieving it in relevant specialty
* Full registration with General Medical Council
* MD, PhD or other higher degree
* Education / Medical Education Qualification (preferably at Masters level)
* Surgeon with experience in the da Vinci system
* Training on the use of the da Vinci system
Skills
* Robotic surgery for precise operations such as Head and Neck cancer
* Thyroid and Parathyroid surgery
* Transoral robotic surgery (TORS)
Education/Audit
* Experience of Audit and Quality Improvement
* Experience of Teaching Junior Staff
* Experience of Undergraduate Teaching
* Publications in recognised Medicine / Medical Education Journals or Presentations at National Level
* Research experience relating to quality improvement
Research and Academic Achievements
* Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care for patients
