About the roles We have several roles available across BIT, allowing you to demonstrate existing skills or develop new ones. However, all our roles will involve: Lead policy development on a specific area of tax policy or strategy, or coordinate cross-cutting policy issues which impact a number of different policy areas. Influence others to achieve HM Treasury and Government objectives. Step back from day-to-day tasks to understand where your work fits in a changing tax policy landscape and the wider fiscal and economic context. Drive forward and project manage work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that work is well planned and executed to deliver against ministers’ objectives. Understand, commission and deploy robust analysis. Manage one or more other individuals within the team in line with HM Treasury values and expected management behaviours, supporting them to develop and building a positive team culture. About you You will need to demonstrate a range of skills, including strong problem-solving skills, the ability to clearly explain your thinking both in writing and in person, and the drive to overcome challenges and see your ideas through into action and delivery. You’ll need good judgement, the ability to get to grips quickly with new issues, and the ability to work well with others, alongside an interest in developing your understanding of tax policy.You don’t need to be a policy professional or have any specific qualifications to apply to work as a Senior Policy Adviser at HM Treasury.
