Theatres and Day Surgery is a fast-paced and exciting Service Line to work for in the Trust. This is an opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team that works cohesively with the aim of delivering excellent patient-centred care.
The post holder will have operational responsibility for Service Line Departments and will develop and support delivery of transformation/improvement projects within the Surgical Division and deputise for the General Manager as required.
Operational delivery of theatre (acute and community) utilisation. Management of scheduling team and lead for performance reporting as directed by the General Manager/Clinical Service Lead.
Development and delivery of transformation/improvement projects according to a standardised project management framework and pre-determined timelines to ensure integration of projects and systems with the Trust Project Management Officer (PMO).
Ensure Service Line transformation/improvement projects are integrated into Trust business plans and service delivery operational plans in alignment with Trust objectives and standing financial instruct of projects, identifying people/information resources, timescales, monitoring and control including tracking and highlighting benefit realisation.
Main duties of the job
1. Develop appropriate systems and processes with the Nursing Lead, GM and SD to ensure operational effectiveness across the service key performance indicators.
2. Identify the impact of changes to the service and future resourcing requirements where appropriate. Use activity information to actively manage demand and capacity of the service.
3. Ensure that systems and processes are in place to achieve patient access standards and activity targets with the available resources.
4. Contribute to the strategic planning of the service, developing services in line with the Trust's strategic direction.
5. Assist in the preparation of business cases for all aspects of the theatre department activities.
6. Develop best practice, service modernisation and improvement plans for the area, in line with Directorate and Trust strategy to enhance the patient experience and deliver value for money.
7. Work collaboratively with senior clinical and non-clinical colleagues of services supported by theatres to develop effective relationships and implement potential service improvements as appropriate.

Job responsibilities
1. Provide frontline day-to-day management of theatre scheduling for the Trust. To ensure that appropriate management systems are in place to provide accurate validated data quality.
2. To ensure theatre meetings are attended by all relevant stakeholders. Work with Business Information team in the provision of current and relevant data for the meetings.
3. Manage and monitor budgets for area. To provide regular reports and updates to General Manager and Finance Business Partner.
4. Assist General Manager in the development of business cases to support the introduction of new theatre procedures utilising evidence from nationally recognised evidence-based practice organisations.
5. Develop business proposals and assist the General Managers in the implementation of business plans, operational strategies and delivery of Trust objectives.
6. Produce regular, meaningful report status updates for a variety of audiences both internal and external, presenting these at Service Line/Trust meetings.
7. The post holder is expected to take part in the division-wide escalation rota attending key site meetings and cascading actions as appropriate.
8. The post-holder is expected to take responsibility for self-development on a continuous basis, undertaking on-the-job and other training and contributing to own personal development plan.
9. Ensure training needs are met for all team members. Monitor Trust mandatory and statutory training and ensure compliance within own team and across theatre clinical teams in conjunction with nursing leads and Matron.
10. To ensure all aspects of administration within the post remit adhere to the Clinical Governance & Risk and Information Governance and Information Security policy requirements.
11. Undertake research and audit activity/peer review analysis, to inform strategic business change development and operational service planning work within the Division.
